Uncommon Collegiate Charter High School
I've been in the social work field since 1998, when I started my career as a case worker in the foster care system in Chicago. Since receiving my Masters in Social Work from New York City's Hunter College in 2005, I've been working in elementary, middle and high schools in Brooklyn and Queens.
After receiving my Masters degree, I spent 7 years working at an all-boys public charter school in the Bedford-Stuyvesant community of Brooklyn. In 2012, I decided to work part-time and became the part-time social worker for a new high school, also in Bedford-Stuyvesant. While working part-time I've pursued consulting work, which has included clinical supervision for social workers who are pursuing their clinical licensure; professional development for groups of social workers and supporting struggling schools in designing and implementing improvement plans. With a small team of people, I've opened a new New York City Department of Education elementary school, P.S. 312 - Jamaica Children's School, in South Jamaica, Queens, where I work part-time.
